A project initiated by Minister of Cultural Affairs & Sport, Anroux Marais, culminated in 100 individuals from Swellendam, Barrydale, Buffeljags, Malgas, Suurbraak and Railton recalling, telling and preserving some of the undocumented stories of the area. Interviews were held with the residents, which in turn were recorded and published on DVD’s. These DVDs have been distributed to libraries where community members can access all of the archived stories, further contributing to the rich history of the region. A celebration of the project was held on 08 October 2019, where some story tellers recited some of their stories.
