Diesel and Crème is a pitstop off Route 62 in Barrydale, perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth that needs to be satisfied. There are four desserts and 21 milkshakes to try, and for food, there is a diverse menu to choose from.

Described as a café diner and motel, the establishment has a glut of positive reviews on various tourism and restaurant sites. These include a 4 out of 5 rating on Eat Out and over 400 excellent ratings on Tripadvisor.

The Diesel and Crème milkshake menu

Diesel and Crème’s Milkshakes are popular menu items. There are 21 to choose from, 16 of which are gourmet and five standard diner versions.

Some of the gourmet flavours include chocolate & brownie, peppermint crips, cinnamon macadamia and crunchie honey. Furthermore, the five diner flavours are bubblegum, chocolate, lime, strawberry and vanilla.

Craft beer and craft cool drinks at Diesel and Crème 

Diesel and Crème has 5 craft beers on tap: Jack Black’s Brewers Lager, Devil’s Peak First Light Golden Ale, CBC Amber Weiss, Striped Horse Pilsner and Dragon Fiery Ginger Beer.

Additionally, there is a craft cooldrink menu with flavours like Brew Kombucha, apple or grape flavoured fizz, a ginger and lemonade mix called Lemi Lemi, and a drink called Theonista, which comes in original ginger beer or sugar-free cream soda flavours. Other additions include Marty’s spiced tomato juice and tea of life kimbucha.

There is also a coffee menu, breakfast smoothie and freshly squeezed orange juice. In addition, there is a mix called Karoo Corona that has blitzed ice, pineapple, coconut milk and dates and cayenne pepper.

The Diesel and Crème’s food menu

Burgers, pies, sandwiches and wraps are some of the menu options available at the diner. In terms of pies, the options are either a chicken or beef lamb and feta pie. 

Furthermore, the burger options include a bacon cheeseburger and one called the Diesel Beef, while on the toasted sandwich front there is a bacon, egg and cheese as well as a chunky chicken mayo option among others.

Besides that, Diesel and Crème have a breakfast menu with a wrap, buttermilk scone and a meal called The Englishman, which has bacon, eggs, beef sausage, and grilled cherry tomatoes.

There is accommodation nearby as well

Just a short walk away from the vintage diner is a vintage motel. This is known as the Karoo Moon Motel and offers two self-catering accommodation options, one a suite and the other a studio.

Each has a private entrance, en-suite bathroom, kitchenette and living room area among other amenities.

Then there is the Karoo Moon house and cottage, which is a renovated ‘nagmaal huisie.’ This used to be where farmers slept over to be in town for the holy communion service on Sunday back in the day.
