For those looking for a relaxing experience, Warmwaterberg Spa Barrydale, off route 62 between Barrydale and Ladismith, is just the place.

It has 29 accommodation options, ranging from caravans to chalets and rustic, 100+-year-old houses and bath houses. Additionally, there is a spa with hot pools, a shop and a restaurant.
The bath houses at Warmwaterberg Spa

There are two historic bathhouses, which were built in 1886 but have been renovated into two-bedroom houses, each room has a big bath and there is also a kitchen, stoep and outdoor toilet and braai.

In addition, there are modern studio bathhouses, which still have a bath, stoep and outdoor braai. This one has an inside braai too and also has bi-folding doors which make for easy entry and exit during the day.
The main houses at Warmwaterberg Spa

The main houses were built in 1908 and each comes with a walk-in roman bath, basin and toilet. They each also have a sunroom, although there are a few variations.

Some are open plan, others have interleading rooms and then there are those with separate rooms. There are also outdoor braai facilities for each house.
Warmwaterberg Spa timber chalets

Another option is timber chalets. There are four variants: one-bedroom, two-bedroom, deluxe two bedrooms and three-bedroom. Subsequently, there are 14 of these chalets to book and they sleep anything from four to eight people.
These also come with a shower instead of the bath and have outdoor braai facilities.
Caravans and camping options too

There are five parked caravans available, which sleep between two and four people. They use the communal ablution facilities outside, which have showers and a Roman bath.

Alternatively, patrons can also camp in tents. There are 25 grassy campsites each with a braai spot. 16 of these sites have electricity supplies and each sleeps up to six people. These also use the outdoor ablution area.
What about the spa?

The spa at Warmwaterberg has a restaurant, shop and pools. The latter is the main attraction with three available, two of which are naturally heated. The temperature is 43.5 degrees at the source, which is cooled before being fed into the pool.

Bobotie, french toast, and a lamb pie filled to capacity and surrounded by veggies are just some of the items found on the menu of the Warmwaterberg Spa restaurant. The restaurant is cosy and offers expansive Karoo views and a lawn for kids to play on.
The hiking trails
Finally, there are the hiking trails. The spa grounds have two trails to choose from: a 6.1 km route that skirts the spa boundaries and a shorter 1.8km hike that stays closer to the main spa building.
There are spots to stop and picnic, succulents everywhere and intriguing rock formations to see on the routes as well.
