At the Maker’s Brew brewery on Route 62 in Barrydale, they do more than brew craft beer. They also have a pizza menu with topping options that pair well with their beers.

Additionally, the establishment does a collaboration with a local restaurant every first Wednesday of the month. They put three curry dishes on the menu, and the brewery provides the craft brews to pair with.

The Maker’s Brew beer brewing

At The Maker’s Brew, they make four types of craft beer. There is the Blonde ale, which has moderate maltiness and bitterness. Next is the Saison, a highly carbonated, low alcohol option with a fruity and spicy taste.

Then there is the Amber Ale with a darker amber colour and stronger flavour. Finally, there is the porter, which is a dark, full-bodied beer. Guinness was once branded a porter and later became a stout porter.

Pairing pizza with beer at the Maker’s Brew

The Maker’s Brew has 6 pizza options to pair with their beers. All of the pizzas are made with sourdough bases and options include salami, Napoli, green fig, margarita, pulled pork and vegan options.

Amber ales are known to go well with pizza, and pork, while blonde ale pairs with spicy food and cheesy flavours. Porters are good for seafood and game meats while Saison gels with seafood and bold cheesy flavours.

Bringing curry into the mix 

Every first Wednesday of the month, The Maker’s Brew collaborates with the restaurant Lloyd’s on Route 62, for a special night of curries.

The curries on the menu include red lentil curry, butter chicken curry, and lamb curry. Besides the beer, patrons also have a choice of sides from salad to basmati rice and a roti too.
