The Swellendam Municipality is happy to announce the appointment of its new Municipal Manager, Anneleen Vorster, as of 06 October 2022.

Anneleen Vorster is no stranger to the position, having previously been appointed the Municipal Manager in Prince Albert. Ms. Vorster comes to Swellendam Municipality with more than 20 years of local government experience.

Anneleen was initially appointed as Director, Corporate Services, in November 2021 and immediately impacted the Municipality’s governance and corporate affairs. She has also filled the Acting Municipal Manager position as needed in 2021 and has served as the Acting Municipal Manager as of 1 July 2022 until her recent appointment.

With an academic background in political science and experience as Director of Corporate, Community, and Technical departments, Ms. Vorster brings extensive knowledge and experience in service delivery to the municipality.

Born and bred in the Overberg, Caledon to be specific, Ms. Vorster’s love of the civil service is palpable when she is heard stating that ‘being a municipal employee is a calling and not a job.’

The municipality wishes Ms. Vorster well with her tenure and positively anticipates what her leadership has to offer.
