In terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003 (MFMA) chapter 12, section 121 (1), every municipality and every municipal entity must for each financial year prepare an annual report in accordance with this Chapter.
INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN
The Swellendam Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan is governed by section 34 of the Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000. The Integrated Development Plan (IDP) is the municipality’s method to plan for future developments within the municipal area. The aim of the IDP is to coordinate the work of the municipality together with other spheres of government in a coherent plan to improve the quality of life for all citizens within the municipal area. The IDP takes into account the existing conditions, problems and resources available for development.
The plan looks at economic and social development for the area as a whole and provides a framework for how land should be used, what infrastructure and services are needed and how the environment should be protected.
